Uber: Rides, eats, hotels

Getting a car to the door in a few taps is what Uber: Rides, eats, hotels from Uber Technologies, Inc. is best known for. The app matches riders with nearby drivers, shows the price before booking and offers a wide range of ride types, from budget trips to luxury cars.

A trip starts with entering a destination, after which the app shows an upfront price and an estimated arrival time. The menu of options is long. UberX covers affordable solo rides, UberX Priority speeds up pickup, and UberXL fits groups of up to six. Comfort brings newer cars with extra legroom, while Electric and Comfort Electric use zero-emission vehicles. Uber Pet lets riders bring an animal, Black and Premier offer high-end cars with top-rated professional drivers, and in some cities riders can hail a regular taxi through the app. Two-wheeled scooters are available for short hops. The description also stresses safety features for both riders and drivers, although it does not list them in detail here.

Uber has 1,000,000,000+ installs and an excellent 4.7 average from 19,913,137 ratings; 90% are five stars and only 4% one star. The record lists no ads and no in-app purchases, as payment is for the rides themselves. It was updated on 2026-09-18, the Android requirement varies with device and it is rated Everyone. We list 5 versions, and the current build is recorded as varying by device.

Anyone who needs occasional rides in a city where Uber operates will find it straightforward. Availability of each ride type depends on the city, so options differ from place to place.
