Neku: OC character creator

Profile pictures are the whole point of Neku: OC character creator, an avatar maker from Neku Avatar Studio. Instead of a photo, you assemble a hand-drawn cartoon version of yourself, or an original character, and use it as an icon on social networks.

The work happens in a dress-up editor. The developer says there are more than 3,000 parts to combine, split across clothing, accessories, eyes, hairstyles and backgrounds, so a session is mostly a matter of flicking through categories, swapping pieces and watching the face and outfit change until the look feels right. The listing pitches everything from fashion-forward styles to a knightly costume, which gives an idea of the range. There is also a social side: the app mentions finding and befriending people with similar interests, although it does not go into detail about how that part works.

Players clearly like it. The score sits at 4.7 from 455,058 ratings, with 85% of them five stars and only 3% one star, and the app has passed 10,000,000+ installs. It is free to download but carries ads and sells in-app items priced from $0.99 - $45.99 per item. The latest update landed on 2026-09-08, it needs Android 7.0 or newer and is rated Teen. We list 32 versions here, the newest being 1.8.98.11 at 76.3 MB.

Anyone who enjoys dressing up characters or wants a distinctive icon for chat and social apps will find a deep wardrobe to play with. People who dislike ads or dislike paid extras in creative tools may find the monetisation gets in the way.
