Google Voice

Google Voice, from Google LLC, gives its users an extra phone number that lives in the cloud rather than on a SIM card. Calls, texts and voicemail tied to that number can be handled from a phone or a computer, and everything stays in sync across devices.

Availability is the first thing to check: the service works with personal Google Accounts in the US and with Google Workspace accounts in selected markets, and text messaging is not supported everywhere. For those who can use it, spam is filtered automatically and unwanted numbers can be blocked. Personal rules decide where calls, messages and voicemail get forwarded and when. Every call, text and voicemail is backed up and searchable, so an old message can be found quickly. Individual and group SMS can be sent and received from any linked device. Voicemails are transcribed, and the text can be read in the app or sent by email. International calls are charged at the service's own rates rather than through a mobile carrier's add-ons.

Google Voice has 10,000,000+ installs and a 4.2 average from 372,062 ratings, with 66% five stars and 13% one star. The record lists no ads and no in-app purchases. It was updated on 2026-09-18, needs Android 8.0 or newer and is rated Everyone. We list 39 versions; 2026.08.23.969271198 is the newest at a lean 27.3 MB.

US users who want a second number for work, online sign-ups or keeping a personal number private will find it practical, especially with voicemail transcription. People outside the supported regions will not be able to use it at all, so it is worth confirming eligibility before installing.
