Facebook Lite

Built for weak connections and budget phones, Facebook Lite is the slimmed-down version of Facebook from Meta Platforms, Inc. It keeps most of the social network's everyday functions while using far less storage and working even on 2G networks.

The familiar pieces are all here. Users can find friends and family, post status updates with emoji, share photos and memes, and receive notifications when friends like or comment on their posts. Reactions and comments work as usual, and photos can be organised into albums. The app also lets people follow others for their latest updates, find local events and RSVP, look up nearby businesses to read reviews, check opening hours and view pictures, and buy or sell goods on Marketplace. Profiles and groups can be edited directly, and photos can be shared straight from the phone camera.

Facebook Lite has 1,000,000,000+ installs and a 4.5 average from 38,819,547 ratings; 78% are five stars and 6% one star. It is ad-supported, and in-app purchases run from $0.29 to $179.99 per item. The most recent update is from 2026-09-22, the Android requirement varies with device and it is rated Teen. We list 76 versions, and the newest, 527.0.0.9.101, is a tiny 3.4 MB, a fraction of the full app's size.

It is an easy recommendation for anyone on an older phone, a slow network or a limited data plan. Users who want the full range of Facebook's newer features may prefer the main app, which is far larger but adds tools such as reels editing and AI features.
