A quarantined city overrun by the undead is the setting for Zombie Apocalypse: Doomsday-Z, a first-person shooter published by Freeplay Inc. The player is a survivor trapped inside the zone after a virus has turned the population into monsters, and the only way out is through them.
The game is structured as missions that push deeper into the ruined city, past smashed barricades, desperate messages on walls and wrecked, dusty buildings. Combat centres on shooting moving targets, with ammunition and decisions both mattering. Enemy types escalate as progress is made, from ordinary zombies to ones that spit radioactive waste and enormous beasts. The overarching goal is to reach a final shelter where other survivors have gathered. The developer describes a blend of standard zombie-shooter mechanics with a heavier horror atmosphere.
The reception is very strong. It averages 4.6 from over 820,000 ratings, with 72% at five stars and only 1% at one star, and it has 10,000,000+ installs. The game is free with ads and in-app purchases from $0.99 to $49.99 per item. It was updated on 2026-08-18, needs Android 7.1 or newer, and is rated Mature 17+. We list 22 versions, and the latest, 1.67.10, is a very large 391.0 MB download.
Fans of zombie shooters who want a mission-based campaign with horror flavour will find a highly rated option. Younger players are excluded by the Mature 17+ rating, and anyone short on storage should budget for nearly 400 MB.
