Few endless runners are as recognisable as Subway Surfers, the arcade chase from SYBO Games, originally co-developed with Kiloo. Its idea fits in one sentence: run along the train tracks, avoid the trains and stay ahead of a grumpy guard and his dog.
Players guide Jake, Tricky and Fresh through a run that only ends when they crash or get caught. Swipes move the runner between lanes, jump over obstacles and roll under them, and the description stresses how fast those swipe acrobatics are. Runners can grind along the tops of trains, ride a hoverboard and take off with a paint-powered jetpack for stretches of the run. There is a social element too, with options to challenge friends or help them out. The bright, colourful HD art is one of its selling points, and the app is built to adapt to different screen sizes.
