Lawn defence goes time-travelling in Plants vs. Zombies 2, the sequel published by ELECTRONIC ARTS. The formula is familiar tower defence with a comic streak: waves of shambling zombies march across rows of grass, and a garden of plants with odd powers is all that stands between them and your brain.

Players place plants such as Sunflower and Peashooter along the lanes, adding newer ones like Lava Guava and Laser Bean as the collection grows past hundreds of species. Plant Food gives a unit a temporary surge, while Seed Packets earned in play are spent to upgrade plants, speeding up planting, strengthening defences and unlocking new abilities. The campaign crosses 11 eras, starting in Ancient Egypt and reaching as far as the Far Future, with more than 300 levels, endless zones, mini-games and daily Pinata Party events, and Dr. Zomboss waits at the end of each world. For competition, the Arena mode pits scores against other players on special levels, with Leagues and leaderboards to climb.
