Bike sharing across Japan is the purpose of HELLO CYCLING - シェアサイクル, run by OPENSTREET CO.,LTD. The app lets members find, reserve, unlock and return shared electric-assist bicycles at what the developer says are more than 14,000 stations around the country.

Getting started means signing up with an email address or Yahoo! JAPAN ID; membership has no monthly fee and takes about a minute. After that you locate a nearby station on the map, reserve a bike, and can even reserve the spot where you plan to return it. At the station, you check the vehicle number and unlock the bike from the app. Rentals start at 30-minute blocks, with the listing quoting 160 yen per 30 minutes, though rates can differ by area. To finish, you park at any station, lock the bike by hand and press the return button on the key. Registering an IC card allows renting without a reservation. Payment options include PayPay, credit card, carrier billing and Yahoo! Wallet, and the network also covers numerous regional share-cycle brands.

Reception is poor. The app scores 2.9 from about 20,800 ratings, and the histogram is polarised: 37% five stars against 43% one star. It has 1,000,000+ installs. The app itself is free, with no ads or in-app purchases; rides are paid per use. It was updated on 2026-09-07, requires Android 11 or newer, a fairly high bar, and is rated Everyone.
