Supercell, the studio behind Clash of Clans, built Clash Royale as a compact duel that mixes card collecting with tower defense. Two players face off across a small arena, each guarding a King's Tower and a pair of Princess towers, and the goal is to knock down more of the opponent's structures than you lose.

Before a match, players assemble a battle deck from a pool of more than 100 cards, each one a troop, spell or building drawn from the familiar Clash cast. During the fight, cards are dropped onto the field in real time, so timing and placement matter as much as the deck itself: a well-placed defender can blunt a push, while a counterattack down the other lane can catch a rival off guard. Matches are online PvP against people around the world, and progress means unlocking new characters and strengthening cards, with Evo Shards used to evolve certain units.

Reception is strong. Clash Royale holds a 4.4 average from more than 41 million ratings, with 79% of them five stars and about 10% one star. It has reached 500,000,000+ installs. The game is free to play without ads, but it sells items through in-app purchases ranging from $0.29 to $239.99 per item, and the developer notes that some of these are random items. It was updated on 2026-09-22, needs Android 7.0 or later, and carries an Everyone 10+ rating. We list 40 versions here, and the latest build is a hefty 1.0 GB download.
